BabyMint is a free rebating program that helps families save money for college. BabyMint members earn rebates by shopping at the BabyMint network of retailers and service providers, purchasing particular products, or using the BabyMint MasterCard. Rebates range from 1% to 20%, depending on the retailer or product. The rebates can be deposited directly into the member's section 529 plans or Coverdell Education Savings Accounts.
Participating companies include more than 127,000 grocery stores, 700 retailers, and 150 online stores. Major companies participating in BabyMint include Barnes & Noble, Blockbuster, Delta Airlines, GAP, Marriot, PetSmart.com, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, and Wal-Mart.
The BabyMint Cash Back MasterCard gives you an additional 1% rebate on eligible purchases. About 40 merchants offer additional rebates of up to 8% on each purchase when you use the BabyMint Cash Back MasterCard. These merchants include Best Buy, JC Penny, Marriott, Eddie Bauer, Tower Records and Pep Boys, among others. The BabyMint Cash Back MasterCard does not charge an annual fee.
In addition, BabyMint has partnered with SAGE Scholars Inc. to provide a matching scholarship credit. Every dollar in shopping rebates is matched by a dollar off tuition at colleges that participate in the SAGE program.
A BabyMint Buck is the equivalent of $1. Each month, when your account balance is at least 25 BabyMint Bucks, they deposit the earnings into your college savings account. If opt to get rebates directly, you'll get a check once a quarter whenever your balance reaches a minimum of 25 BabyMint Bucks. Friends and relatives can also have their BabyMint Bucks deposited to your child's college savings account.
The BabyMint program is currently only available to US Residents.
BabyMint is owned by Collegiate Financial Services.
